Modern British Studies Association Conference
The Modern British Studies Association’s primary event is its annual conference, which provides an opportunity to share research, meet colleagues and celebrate recent scholarship in our field. All higher education institutions may be considered for hosting, and the conference circulates across a wide range of institutions.
The MBSA launch conference, ‘The Polycrisis’ was held in summer 2026 at the University of Birmingham.
Future Events
In 2027 we are excited to be working with the IHR as they partner with the North American Conference on British Studies on the summer conference in London.

In 2028, MBS will be hosted by the University of Bristol, and in 2029, the University of Cambridge.
